Some gobble down turkey, then shop to start holiday season
More customers were leaving their Thanksgiving meals and heading to the stores early.
Thanksgiving Day, rather than the day afterward, has become the start of the holiday shopping season in a shift that delights some and disgusts others.
Walmart is a arguably the most popular retailer in the United States for moneygrubbers and deal hunters for a year round, and the Black Friday 2016 sales ups the ante.
But most major retailers made a decision to continue this newest tradition of kicking off the holiday shopping marathon right after – or even before – the Thanksgiving feast.
“It nearly seems as through people are sitting by their computers at midnight waiting for retailers” websites to “turn on, ‘” said Mohit Grover, Google Canada’s head of industry in retail.
