Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell ruled out for two weeks
A miss by Russell Westbrook sealed the victory as the Lakers moved to 8-7, the same record the Thunder now hold. Russell is not the only Laker hurting. In addition to potentially allowing Ingram to have even more of an impact on the way the team starts offensively, he might also be able to help slow some of the opposing perimeter scorers down before they get into a rhythm. Clarkson is shooting a respectable 46.8 percent from the field though he has struggled beyond the arc lately, making 1-of-his-last-9 shots from long distance and is hitting on 33.3 percent of his three-point attempts overall.
Lakers head coach Luke Walton had to dig into his bag, starting Luol Deng at power forward, Brandon Ingram at small forward and Jose Calderon at point guard to adjust to the personnel available.
“The play was created to someone else”, Young said. The Lakers were up by 12 on Oklahoma City halfway through the fourth quarter, but Russell Westbrook led them to a one-point lead in the final seconds before Young took a pass intended for teammate Lou Williams and cashed the game-winner.
Is there reason to be concerned with Russell’s injury?
This Warriors performance is somewhat diminished insofar as it came against a Lakers team that was utterly overmatched without starting guard D’Angelo Russell and starting forward Julius Randle. “But the timeline? I have no idea”, added Walton, who is in the running for Coach of the Year award. “And I felt like he kind of …”
“It did wonders for me at that age, being around a bunch of guys that were just as hungry as me and wanting to win”, Durant said. But I haven’t asked him yet how the hip felt.
Russell sat out for the second time in three games to rest his knee, which prevents him from playing at full speed.
“You can tell they enjoy playing with each other”.
It wasn’t really a joke.
This is undoubtedly a big potential trade for both teams as the Lakers may get a dominant big man, while the Kings will have a young leader in Russell with whom they can build a team around.
Speaking to reporters before the Los Angeles Lakers face his former team the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena, Luke Walton said, “No, not unless somebody else tells me something different”.
He paused at the laughter. Although the team now is 8-7 on the season, what we’ve seen this year has been a major improvement on anything we witnessed during the 2015-16 campaign. Back then, they stressed their was no expectation that this team would have to win. They may not break their win record from last season, but they are going to be a force in the postseason again. At 2-12, they’re off to their worst start to a season in 23 years, and their seven straight losses is their longest skid in 18 seasons.
“Because they were small, we were talking about switching any exchanges, and to be honest we didn’t do a very good job of that”. “You get on a plane, you get a good night’s sleep and mentally prepare for the next one”.
