Thanksgiving has not been kind to the Pittsburgh Steelers over the years
They can be thankful for the fact that Indianapolis looks to be without starting Quarterback Andrew Luck. What he’ll deliver is anyone’s guess, but he’ll have to at least perform in a way that gives the Colts a chance to win and doesn’t put them in a hard spot.
“We’re 1-6 on Thanksgiving, whether it’s on the road or at home is just insane”, running back Le’Veon Bell said.
Roethlisberger hasn’t been sacked in the past two meetings, and he’s rarely been so much as hurried.
And Pittsburgh did it with its best defensive player back home dealing with a torn pectoral muscle that ended his season. One name to consider: newly-minted backup Denard Robinson, the No. 2 in Jacksonville, behind an oft-injured Chris Ivory in an offense that has featured both backs in the game plan since Nathaniel Hackett took over as offensive coordinator. “Now you’ve seen what you can do, let’s keep it going”. Since the bye week Flacco is averaging 267 passing yards per game to go with 1.67 touchdown passes.
A week later, Tolzien made his first start with similar results. He finished the day with six receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Last year, against the Colts, the Steelers sent only three pass rushers about a dozen times. He also caught his first career touchdown pass. LaFell, meanwhile, has four touchdowns on the season but just two games with more than 75 receiving yards. This game will be no different. The three 10-point games the Lions have allowed to tight ends went to Delanie Walker, one of the best fantasy tight ends in the game, and Jack Doyle and C.J. Fiedorowicz, who were not considered more than bye-week stand-ins. We’re having this email conversation Monday and Tuesday, and right now we don’t know for sure what Andrew Luck’s health status will be.
Losing Luck, who entered the concussion protocol Sunday night after complaining of concussion-like symptoms following a victory over Tennessee, won’t help. His last meaningful playing time was against the Minnesota Vikings on November 24, 2013, when he was with the Green Bay Packers. Their top two picks from last season have been out – LB Bud Dupree just came off IR and played one play in Cleveland.
Being indoors this week, the Steelers could try to take advantage of his deep speed against an Indianapolis defense that is last in the league against the pass, allowing 285 yards per game. Ben Roethlisberger had a lot of success against them previous year and the team was without Le’Veon Bell. But who really is Scott Tolzien? Wide receiver Donte Moncrief, meanwhile, was a late add with a hamstring injury and is questionable. Although the Indianapolis secondary is atrocious, Pittsburgh’s secondary is nothing special either.
Prediction: Pittsburgh 44, Indianapolis 13.
