Wade felt ‘weird’ playing against the Heat
Later that night, the tribute was posted on Miami Heat’s official Facebook and Twitter account @MiamiHEAT captioned, “Thank you for 13 unforgettable years @DwyaneWade!” For NBA fans, it will surely be familiar yet odd seeing Wade play on the other side of his previous homecourt. And every championship banner that hangs from the rafters is there largely because of his work. A team he was a part of for 13 years.
“Weird game”, said Dwyane Wade, right, of his return to Miami as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Wade’s video montage was played during the first timeout, Heat fans went insane. Though when the Heat didn’t score the last three minutes it was 70-70 going into the fourth quarter.
We also learned via TNT’s David Aldridge that Pat Riley has in fact emailed Wade to break their long communication stalemate, but the Bulls guard hasn’t responded to them just yet. In their last game Sunday, the Bucks fell 86-75 in overtime to Dallas, which was 0-5 coming into that game.
After falling to the Atlanta Hawks, playing the second night of their own back-to-back, Chicago went to Miami and pulled out win. No matter. The Bulls beat the Heat 98-95.
“I don’t get emotional about anything”, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, “except for these kind of things”.
Wade may be in Chicago now, but there’s no question Miami will forever have his heart.
Wade was battling a knee injury at the time, and Riley obviously envisioned him breaking down rather than bouncing back the way he did.
That deal left the Heat somewhat limited in what they could pay Wade, and they nearly lost him in 2015 before striking a one-year deal for $20 million.
San Antonio employed the same strategy late in the third to pull within a point twice, but could not overcome the Rockets even when Harden struggled. “I’m looking forward to playing in the environment I played in for 13 years and competing against guys I’ve played with and have relationships with”.
“I can listen to “The Way We Were” by Willie Hutch and I will come to tears thinking about him”.
Thursday’s game will be Wade’s 525th in Miami.
But back came Butler with a 12-foot pull-up with 53.9 seconds to play for a 92-89 Bulls lead. The Miami Heat are allowing 32.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 44.8 rebounds per game.
“Everybody going to be fired up”, Heat center Hassan Whiteside said.
The focus Thursday night was on Wade’s return. The question is, will there be interaction between the former Heat star and ex teammates?
“There’s no bad blood between him and this organization”, Haslem said. He’s had so much success – we’ve had so much success. “We play against former players all the time”.
The divorce between Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat had been brewing for years, but that didn’t make it any easier for fans who grew up watching their handsome relationship.
