Kirk Cousins explains ‘How you like me now?’ celebration
There will be time to rest after Dallas, when Washington gets a 10-day break before traveling to Arizona.
But the porous defense is Green Bay’s biggest issue at the moment – as it has been while dropping five of their past six games.
That didn’t happen, but at least Griffin lifted the holiday curse for the Redskins. That all changed on September 19 when the Cowboys scored a late, game-deciding touchdown, and that 27-23 victory would be the first of nine straight victories for an outfit that managed just four wins in 2015. But Cook also fumbled in the fourth quarter. Washington went up 20-19, but Dallas retook the lead on a 25-yard Mike Clark field goal.
The former Michigan State quarterback turned in a sparkling performance.
The infamous Clint Longley game.
There’s still plenty of football left, but unless there’s an epic collapse in Dallas, the Redskins will be battling for a wildcard spot. He averaged 12.5 yards per pass, and finished with a 70 percent completion percentage. Just a typical Redskins-Cowboys game. The undrafted product out of Tulane earned his first 100-yard game as a pro. The key to the matchup? Ezekiel Elliott’s star-studded running and the improved defense has made the Cowboys a Super Bowl favorite.
“The one he hit Crowder on, with the wind blowing as hard as it was against him, that was awesome”, said running back Chris Thompson, who had one reception for nine yards. Troy Aikman added another 222 yards in the air.
Kirk Cousins is still the starting quarterback after accepting the franchise tag prior to the season and is trying to prove he’s a superstar rather than a game manager on the Redskins offense.
What Cousins accomplished – 375 yards passing with three touchdowns and no interceptions – in 30 miles per hour wind was real and should be celebrated. Aikman threw for just 63 yards, but the Redskins offense managed to record just 221 yards of total offense. That throw came with the wind at his back. Besides, he has produced against good defenses as well.
It paid off because Rob Kelley would score on 1 -yard rush. After Green Bay countered with another TD in the high-scoring second half, Cousins directed an 11-play, 81-yard drive during which he rushed for a first down on fourth and 1 from Washington’s 40 and lofted a 53-yard pass to Crowder that put the ball on the Packers 1-yard line. Washington gained 517 yards and converted on 64 percent of its third-down attempts. Dallas and Washington will not disappoint the viewers on Thanksgiving afternoon. They’re doing an excellent job of keeping you off-balance with the play-action, the bootlegs, the dropbacks.
