Our commonwealth desperately needs a Kentucky Democratic-Labor Party
My interest is piqued. Being party chair has to be one of the worst of all possible jobs because everyone presumes the position has great power when it has almost none.
So when the election boiled down to a battle between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, it essentially became narrowed down to the establishment candidate, Hillary Clinton, and the anti-establishment candidate, Donald Trump.
I had to mention the elephant in the room.
Why do you think Clinton lost, and Trump won? “Is there anything we as a club can do differently?” Facebook and Twitter being the chief social media platforms for the sharing of political insights, we may cast our gaze now upon these online tools: the substitute many have chosen over traditional print and broadcast media.
“We should have done outreach in other states”. The party can once again seize that mantle, but it will take some serious soul-searching and it will take putting people in positions of leadership who are as diverse as the electorate whose votes they seek. “The Democratic Party left Pennsylvania, Ohio and MI behind, who haven’t recovered from manufacturing jobs going away”.
“Thanks, Jim, and I do stand with Secretary Clinton”, McGinty said. The Democrats had had this 11 times versus 3 times for the Republicans, who, in 2017, will have the major advantage of a Republican President, a Republican controlled House and a Republican controlled Senate.
Looking to the future, Gurian said the Democratic Party might actually emerge stronger, if it unites and takes a more progressive direction with leaders such as Sanders and Massachusetts Sen.
However, Sanders said that greater diversity in politics is not a high enough goal if it doesn’t come with meaningful changes that improve the lives of the working class. The failure of Democrats wasn’t that they didn’t coddle white working-class people enough; it was that they failed to explain how unless you are wealthy, white and connected like Trump, you will fall like every other person he’s screwed over throughout his career.
Historically, the Democratic Party has been the party of the working class. Democrats passed the National Labor Relations Act, which guarantees private sector workers the right to organize a union.
“This is where there is going to be division within the Democratic Party”, Sanders said Sunday in Boston, according to Boston Magazine reporter Kyle Scott Clauss.
Adele was quick to reply: “It’s time to open our doors and have a pow-wow together”.
(Us Veterans) got to work for you guys so you guys can have the right of free speech so you can protest and everything. What are you seeing that we’re not seeing?
He knew that these people were the party’s bread and butter.
My thoughts on the whole thing? Of course, we are NOT there yet, or even close to being there yet, but that should be the goal as we attempt to move forward after the electoral disaster of 2016. Digging in our heels or holding onto power and “business as usual” is not going to cut it, and neither is fear-mongering about Trump.
(Clinton) very much so represents the establishment, and the country as a whole is exhausted of where the country is going.
In other words, just because the campaign is over, we won’t have to worry about boring politics for the next couple of years.
This ended the soul-searching – for now.
Everyone is talking about Bernie Sanders’s comments on identity politics. Regardless, I’d argue that what Bernie Sanders raises here is an important debate for the Democratic Party to be having right now.
“President-elect Donald Trump abruptly abandoned some of his most tendentious campaign promises Tuesday, saying he does not plan to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email system or the dealings of her family foundation, has an “open mind” about a climate-change accord from which he vowed to withdraw the United States and is no longer certain that torturing terrorism suspects is a good idea”.
