First look at Lucy Lawless in Ash vs Evil Dead released
“That’s only 10 hours of programming; we need eight more movies”, the Ash Vs. Evil Dead star joked about what the franchise’s zealous fans would demand.
The 10-episode TV series will start airing this coming Halloween on Starz.
Director and EP Sam Raimi, who helmed the original “Dead” franchise, said he would gladly direct another film if Campbell was signed on to the project. Raimi also serves as executive producer, with Rob Tapert (Evil Dead, “Spartacus“, Xena: “Warrior Princess“) and Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) along with Craig DiGregorio (“Workaholics”, “Chuck”) who serves as executive producer/showrunner. “Putting stumps back on, getting covered in blood again, which reminded me how much I hate fake blood”. Like Comic-Con, today’s panel was very much the Campbell show, with the actor slinging out one-liners left, right and center. No matter what we give them, it will never be enough!’. “I went blind the other day shooting a scene”.
Campbell also said he liked “weird material”, telling the crowd he wasn’t interested in what he called “normal stuff”.
“It would be silly of us to rip the fans off by doing a watered-down version of the series”, Campbell said Friday at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour. “She’s a bad bitch and she’s stalking Ash Williams”, Lawless said.
Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter, has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is forced to step up and face his demons.
