Trump wants to move past Clinton investigations
The voting is scheduled to be held when the Electoral College meets December 19, according to Politico.
Trump told New York Times reporters Tuesday he would “rather do the popular vote” and was “never a fan of the Electoral College”, according to Maggie Haberman, who was live-tweeting Trump’s comments during the interview session. It is not expected to win support from her small state colleagues. Moreover, the Constitution does not require electors to vote in favor of the victor of the electoral vote.
Now, an unexpected group of powerful protesters is making a last-ditch attempt to block Trump from assuming office.
He even warned Clinton that he would jail her if he becomes the President. Pravda.Ru asked this question to Director of the Institute for U.S. and Canada Studies, Valery Garbuzov. I thought we elected (Trump) president. It takes 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.
If the White House could be won by a coast-to-coast total, perhaps Democratic strategists might have shifted some resources out of California and into Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina – states Trump won. Indeed, it suggests that those states could join the compact and help abolish the Electoral College through passing ballot initiatives.
During the election campaign, one of the biggest complaints and concerns by Americans was that there seemed to be a two-tiered legal system-one for the high profile and politically connected, and another for everybody else. But I suspect Mr. Robinson would have heralded the Electoral College had Hillary won that vote count, but she was crushed. But like all Democrats and all Republicans before him, rigged elections are only a problem when they lose.
Due to faithless elector movement and calls for Clinton to challenge November 8th results Trump may be deflating tension with am intentionally “temporary” middle ground position. Of course, the political elites that are dissatisfied with the outcome of the USA vote may find two or three people, who will do something, but this is pretty much it. Electors also represent elites of states.
It has been a upside down election in terms of the voting history of some areas.
President-elect Donald Trump won Wisconsin and Pennsylvania by razor-thin margins and has a small lead in MI.
President-elect Donald Trump is sounding a different tune as he prepares to take on the mantle of the presidency.
Trump now: “I have an open mind to it”, he told the Times on the Paris deal. “Even if MI goes to Clinton, it will not change the balance of forces”.
Initially, the Secretary of State reported Trump won by 13,107 votes in the state, making for one of the closest presidential elections in MI history.
