Three takeaways from Auburn’s 55-0 shutout of Alabama A&M
#2 Alabama went to Jordan-Hare hoping to keep its undefeated season alive and got all it could handle from unranked Auburn.
Quarterback Sean White (shoulder) is questionable after sitting out of the Alabama A&M game, but even before the news was revealed that Pettway would suit up against the Crimson Tide, Alabama was prepared to face both Auburn starters this weekend.
Finally, this game is big for Auburn fans because it could determine whether or not Auburn gets into the Sugar Bowl. “But it’s the consistency and being persistent that will make us run the ball well”. “It’s the Iron Bowl in Birmingham”.
One would think that would catapult them into the SEC bid in the Sugar Bowl, which would be a huge accomplishment for this team. At one point in the season, they looked like they could have multiple teams finish in the Top 10 with Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas A&M and LSU all vying for the College Football Playoff. However, his record is not unblemished.
The general consensus here is that Alabama should blow out Auburn. Auburn has to be able to establish its ground game early or let White throw more to loosen up the Alabama defense. But the second half belonged to Heisman Trophy victor Cam Newton, who led Auburn on a 28-3 run en route to Auburn’s second national championship. You could see it on a first-quarter run when the sophomore tore through a hole and had a clear path to the end zone before being taken down from behind at the 19-yard line.
A win for Auburn Saturday would be important because it could set the Tigers up to be the second highest ranked SEC team next to Alabama.
Most experts expect Alabama to win this one, but the Tigers should give the Tide one of their toughest challenges of the season.
While the two teams first faced each other in 1893, according to Winsipedia, it wasn’t until 1948 that Alabama and Auburn met consistently every year.
Is Auburn looking forward to moving that object? Franklin on the other hand has had limited playing time. Since 1980, about 20 percent of the games have been decided by three points or fewer. They do what they do on offense regardless of who plays quarterback, and they do that pretty effectively all year long relative to how they have been able to run the ball on people and make explosive pays in the passing game.
With Davis’ kick return, Auburn took home the Iron Bowl title.
The Crimson Tide focused on fundamentals and corrections following Saturday’s 31-3 win over Chattanooga. With Alabama’s dominance of college football this year, Auburn’s chances of winning look slim.
But the Tigers are unsettled on the offensive side of things.
At quarterback, it’s a little more uncertain. Alabama usually suffocates its opponent like a boa constrictor with a ground-and-pound offense and an out-of-this-world pass rush. “There’s a lot of stuff going on, and you got to settle down, just play what you play”. The all time series between the two teams is fairly even at 44-35-1 in favor of the Crimson Tide, now on a two-game winning streak.
Miles went 9-38 in four seasons at GSU and the program is scheduled to move into a renovated Turner Field, which the school purchased with the intent on converting it to a primary football facility starting next season. “I know they have the three quarterbacks that kind of all specialize in something different”.
