Ajay Devgn “Missing” Performance Oriented Roles
Enjoying amidst their claps and whistles I discovered some WOW instances which I had failed to acknowledge earlier, and I simply took in and enjoyed what Nishikant Kamat served on-screen.
Produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajit Andhare and Abhishek Pathak, the story is believed to have unexpected and shocking climax. The movie that is already caught the fancy of many with its intriguing plot and direction, as evident from the trailer, is the remake of the Malayalam film of the same name. This film is made in a limited budget and if it does decently and covers the cost its good. “His career has seen him essaying myriad action, romantic, dramatic, comedic roles in films like “Vijaypath”, “Zakhm”, “The Legend of Bhagat Singh”, “Deewangee”, “Golmaal”, Ishq”, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”, “Khakee”, “Company”, “Raajneeti”, “Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai” and “Bol Bachchan“. His life revolves around movies and his family consisting of his wife Nandini Vijay Salgaonkar (Shriya Saran), his teenage daughter (Ishita Dutta) and his younger daughter. A major chunk of the first half is spent establishing the bond Vijay shares with his family. Entry of Tabu into the movie would hold you all back to the seats who bays Vijay’s family for their blood, like a wounded lioness regarding her son’s missing case. In doing so the film focuses on the resourcefulness of the human mind and simultaneously a patriarch’s resilience to save his family from a life behind bars.
The film requires a controlled performance where emotional quotient has to be ideal on screen. In fact, when the central conflict is set up, it is compelling to the point of nail-biting. This fourth standard fail cable operator has one more obsession, and that is watching cinema.
“What we see with our eyes is not necessarily the true thing which has happened”. Tabu is introduced as the police chief spitting fire at some prisoners, verbally beating the crap out of them, then walking towards the camera in slow mo, like in some fun B-movie. She gives incredible performance while playing the cop supreme of the state along with her investigation.
Reset in Goa, it is about Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn), a school dropout who runs cable business in a small town away from the beaches and bikini side of the tourist spot. Once she enters, she simply overpowers Ajay to a great extent.
“They will accept me as I am not playing a weak character”. The first remake was the Venkatesh starrer Telugu film DRUSHYAM while the second one was the recently released Tamil film PAPANASAM starring Kamal Haasan. Devgn is still the same movie star from the Singham films, all buff poise and toughness. He may apt for the masala movies of Rohit Shetty and not from the ones coming from serious directors for such characters.
The movie is rich in terms of content, thanks to the originality it has tried to imbibe from the south Indian film, which has given the right to get a remake in Hindi.
