Bradley secures 1st Swansea success with 5-4 win over Palace
Llorente proved to be an inspired substitution from Bradley, but his opposing manager on the day, Alan Pardew, is now nearly certainly leading the Premier League’s infamous managerial sack race. Gylfi Sigurdsson struck a terrific free kick past Wayne Hennessey to equalize in the 36th.
Both of the team are standing at the bottom of the Premier League table.
However, that was to discount thee possibility of another miraculous turnaround because from 3-4 behind, Bradley’s battlers hit back again. “Set-pieces turn games around”.
However, Bob Bradley has refuted the possibility of Llorente leaving the club and instead claimed the 31-year-old has more to offer the Swans. His first touch in the 66th minute was to flick on Sigurdsson’s corner for Leroy Fer to tap in. Little did the Palace manager realise that they would need six. With 17 minutes to play, the Swans had a 3-1 lead and Bradley was looking good.
“It was an unbelievable game for us”.
It was a crushing loss for the Eagles, who have failed to keep a clean sheet for 18 games, and now are only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
And the winning goal came three minutes into the seven. Yohan Cabaye took the ball around Fabianski, who seemed to hesitate as he came off his line, and with the angle narrowing floated the ball into the area.
Connor Wickham was unfortunate not to double that lead when he forced Fabianski into a sublime save with a powerful header, before Sigurdsson levelled things up nine minutes before the break via a superb free-kick from 20 yards, after Jason Puncheon was adjudged to have fouled Cork. But there were no excuses for what followed.
And Palace were in front when Benteke found the net off a post in a crowded goalmouth. “The spotlight is on us and we need to deliver”. Too many to count this season and last.
Fatally, though, the south Londoners now thought they had three points in the bag. Llorente got the faintest of touches as Sigurdsson volleyed towards goal.
In his first five matches in charge at Swansea, Bradley saw his men lose three and draw two, but he’ll certainly be pleased with the fight his squad displayed on Saturday. Crystal Palace, who have lost five straight games, can nearly match their record, the Eagles have not won a game since they beat Sunderland towards the end of September.
On what looked like a quiet, forgettable slate of Premier League games, a nine-goal classic broke out.
