Winston, defense led Buccaneers over Seahawks 14-5
After suffering a hamstring injury last week, Thomas will sit out Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, breaking a 106-game streak.
The Seattle Seahawks, led by Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin, will travel to Florida to take on Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Raymond James Stadium The Bucs also have Mike Evans and Doug Martin at their disposal. “They really go to [Evans] and they do because he can make all of the plays”, said Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
The Seattle Seahawks had a big one at home last week knocking off Philly 25-16 as the offense continues to come on but, they also may have lost Earl Thomas and C.J. Prosise for this week and beyond. The Seahawks got the score to 14-5 after a second-quarter safety and a Steven Hauschka field goal. Somehow they managed to contain Mike Evans in the second half, making the game closer than it should have been. The NFL Odds for the game have the Seahawks favored to pick up the win on the road.
Bradley McDougald had the other interception off Wilson, who had thrown two in 335 attempts this season entering Sunday.
The Saints just toyed with the Rams, putting an exclamation point on the win with a 50-yard pass from wideout Willie Snead to running back Tim Hightower. On a third-and-7 a few minutes later, Seattle’s virtual last-gasp rally died when TE Jimmy Graham tried to leap forward for a couple extra yards and was flipped head over heels by Lavonte David and Vernon Hargreaves, resulting in a fumble.
The Seahawks (7-3-1) missed on their first 10 third downs, unable to move the ball with any consistency against the Tampa Bay defense.
The first one – a 3-yard TD – capped a 14-play, 78-yard drive to start the game.
It’s always been as hard for football analysts to poke holes in Richard Sherman’s game as it has been for receivers to find open space when covered by him. “If Joey does end up playing this week, I feel like we don’t have to change anything or adapt anything”. Evans and Sherman traded shoves before Evans had scant time to react to Winston’s pass hitting him in the hands and chest in the end zone. And Russell Wilson was off several times, not just on his two interceptions.
The last time, Sherman did not start a game was on October 23, 2011 versus the Cleveland Browns.
The three-time All-Pro free safety joins DE Michael Bennett on the sidelines for a game that shapes up as perhaps the toughest remaining foe in a schedule suddenly filled with down-sliders.
The Buccaneers have won their last two games, including a gutsy 19-17 win at Kansas City last week. This is one game the Seahawks just need to throw away and forget about as they shift their focus to the Carolina Panthers coming up next weekend. They probably were never going to catch Dallas, but Sunday’s loss does hurt their chances of getting a bye week.
