Tom Brady ties Peyton Manning’s record for most wins in National Football League history
“At this point, you’re playing for pride, playing to see if you can be on this team in 2017”, the cornerback said. The team he left did what it has done so many time before: Capitalizing on a handful of small mistakes with surgical precision, turning what would’ve nearly certainly been a loss for every other team in the league into a 22-17 win, the 200th victory of Brady’s career. “This is the latest loss but they all hurt the same”.
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS (8-2): Star tight end Rob Gronkowski was limited in practice Wednesday after missing last week’s win over the 49ers with a chest injury, but Brady threw scoring passes to four different receivers.
Here are 10 observations on key points as the game unfolded.
OAKLAND, Calif. – Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 23-yard field goal with 1:45 left, lifting Oakland to a wild victory over Carolina. New England hosts the Los Angeles Rams next week.
The Jets led 10-0 in the second quarter and 17-13 in the fourth quarter.
But they put style points aside and found a way to escape MetLife Stadium with a workmanlike, 22-17 triumph Sunday over the New York Jets.
Brady has endured around-the-clock treatment on his badly swollen and bruised right quad and knee for the last two weeks, and he took a beating at the start of yesterday’s game.
“I’ve had a lot of really great support over the years, so hopefully we can keep winning”, he said.
“He’s definitely made me better”, said Hogan. Gang Green, meanwhile, must go back to the drawing board and figure out how to end this three-game slide. But the Jets managed another one to slip away on a day that quarterback Tom Brady was not his best for New England.
A two-point conversion run by White was overturned by replay, making many wonder if the Patriots had scored too quickly and left enough time on the clock (1:56) for the Jets to come back and win the game. However, if they plan to be the dominant force they were earlier in the season down the stretch, they need Brady and Gronkowski back at their best.
Nick Folk had a 54-yard attempt blocked by Alan Branch that was recovered by Dont’a Hightower with 1:58 left in the opening half, giving Brady and the Patriots the ball at their 46.
Darrelle Revis. Revis gave up both of the Patriots’ touchdown passes, getting beat by Patriots rookie wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell both times.
Fitzpatrick didn’t let his left-knee brace slow him down on a third-and-2 keeper for a first down. Spiller, possibly hit down low by LB Kyle Van Noy diving at his feet in coverage, couldn’t hold a longball. But he lost his most trusted receiver when Gronkowski, the Patriots’ game-changing tight end, exited with a back injury. Two straight incompletions for Brady before a pass completed to Dion Lewis went for ten yards and a first down.
Chris Long forced Ryan Fitzpatrick to fumble two plays later, and Trey Flowers recovered to seal the victory. Originally ruled an incomplete pass, Bowles challenged for the 2nd time in the game and the play was reversed to a touchdown, as Enunwa’s butt was in before his elbow went out of bounds. Gronkowski hit the ground hard on his last target and he left the game.
Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa had five catches for a career-high 109 yards and a highlight-reel 22-yard touchdown catch that gave the Jets a 17-13 lead with 10:26 remaining.
One good half for the Jets defense and another that can be considered the difference in what would have been their highlight win of the season. Then the Jets offense was stopped and punted, and the Pats took over at their 17 with 5:04 to play.
