Gary Kubiak on FG call: ‘We’re going to try to win’

But Head Coach Gary Kubiak refused to use the notion of exhaustion that as an excuse. He wound up with neither.

The Chiefs came out with an unlikely 30-27 win at the end of overtime.

The Broncos are 7-4 after their loss to the Chiefs. His team faces an even tougher climb to the playoffs because it backfired. Soon after the Broncos got the ball back, Houston and his three sacks had to leave the field because of a shoulder injury. I knew I was going to have to have a big game to get us in a position to win.

Offensively, the Broncos are averaging 23.9 points and 324.7 total yards (227.3 in passing and 97.4 in rushing) per game.

That defense, though, faltered late after dominating for much of the night.

The Chiefs did not look good in this game.

But the first half was laborious – Kansas City managed just 49 yards of offense but led 9-3 thanks to a safety and Hill’s 86-yard touchdown return on the ensuing free kick. But had the officials not ruled in Kansas City’s favor, it would have been interesting to see whether the Chiefs could have gotten another snap off after the delay. The Raiders come to Kansas City for a game December 8; the Broncos play at Arrowhead on Christmas night.

Tyreek Hill showed ridiculous speed on the kick-return (after a safety) for a TD.

The teams are tied for second in the AFC West and the victor will greatly improve its playoff prospects. The game is set for 8:30 PM ET so sit yourself down to watch every thrilling second.

The prime time game comes after 11 games on Sunday afternoon, including eight for the early afternoon start.

A scrappily played Chiefs-Broncos game on Sunday night came down to the thinnest of margins. The Broncos’ Von Miller and Chiefs’ Justin Houston had a sack-off, with three each.

Many a Sunday nap has been taken along the Front Range the past two years by Denver Broncos watching fans their offense perform in no particular manner. Up 17-16 with about three minutes left, the Broncos seemingly put the game away thanks to a handsome pass from Trevor Siemian to Bennie Fowler after the young QB read an all-out blitz, placing a ideal ball over Fowler’s shoulder. “I don’t think you could make it any bigger or more intense than it already is”, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith told reporters.

Winners of six straight games, Miami has the Broncos beat on the conference tiebreaker as it stands now.

“It’s on me”, Kubiak said. It’s on me. I gave him the chance to do it.

Kubiak probably could have had a tie Sunday night, but instead rolled the dice looking for a win.
