New York Giants confirm playoff credentials after Bengals win
With the win, the Giants (6-3) retain their hold on second place in the NFC East.
“We’re really looking forward to February 5 in Houston”, Beckham said on the ESPN set after Monday night’s 21-20 win over the Bengals, via The Daily News.
EAST RUTHERFORD In perhaps their biggest test yet under the national spotlight of Monday Night Football, the Giants’ 21-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals certainly wasn’t pretty. With the Bengals having used all three of their timeouts, the Giants had to run only two more plays – Manning kneeling. On their second play, quarterback Andy Dalton threw a 71-yard strike to tight end Tyler Eifert to the Giants 8-yard line. While that may be an overreaction at this point, saying they’ll return to the playoffs for the first time since 2011 isn’t.
“We like the position we’re in”. “Another guy we will take a look at how the week’s going to go”, McAdoo said. “We can’t relax for a second. We just didn’t finish the game”. They haven’t been ideal, but every Giants fan in the world remembers that their last two teams to come back with Lombardi Trophies didn’t have it all figured out in November, either. He sets the bar high, and even his teammates have said that his weird, attention-getting outbursts would be exhausted by now if he wasn’t so good.
Kudos to Eli Manning for recognizing the coverage and calling the audible to Jennings, who made the most of the opportunity and ran right up the gut and past a blocked Burfict. After the fight, Beckham was shown with much disgust over the result, but as he told the ESPN crew after the game, he was pushed by “Notorious”. I knew something like that was coming.
There was no update on defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul who left the field in the fourth quarter but it is not believed to be serious. His percentage share of the Bengals’ air yards was the fourth-highest among Week 10 pass catchers. “We’ll see how the week goes. It’s a good football team, and we felt like we needed to score touchdowns”, McAdoo said.
Dalton managed a 13-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green, while Jeremy Hill scored on a nine-yard run.
On Monday night, with the Giants trailing the Bengals, 20-14, in the early going of the fourth quarter they faced a fourth and goal from the Cincinnati three. “I had to get it back because I dropped a pass on third down”. He went 16 of 29 for 2014 yards with 1 scoring pass and 1 pick tonight. Manning capped an 80-yard opening drive with his pass to Adams. He hit Beckham (10 catches for 97 yards) on New York’s final drive of the half. Nothing changed about the Bengals’ plan to feature their All-Pro receiver, with 57.5 percent of Andy Dalton’s intended air yards against the Giants going to Green.
“The second half of the season is usually when you see the running game starting to get some synchronicity”. It’s the first game he was missed this season after being sidelined last season with a calf injury that required surgery.

The other safety, George Iloka (blue), initially feinted to his right and to Shepard, but Shepard’s cross across the middle made him unreachable for Iloka, who doubled back to help out in the corner.
