Families gathered for Leland Christmas tree lighting

Mark Powell has been selling Christmas trees in Sneads for almost 35 years, and has seen some of the impact himself. But before you do, the LSU AgCenter suggests a few things to consider.

The actual cost of the tree is £25, but, customers who buy the six-foot (ish) tree will be given a £20 voucher to spend in store – effectively meaning you’ve only actually shelled out £5.

Kate Lucas of Denver said she heard through the grapevine about the Christmas tree train and made a decision to buy tickets for herself and her boyfriend, Laird Horigan, as a late birthday present to him.

“It’s the smell. You can’t beat the smell”.

Leyland cypress is the best tree for this area. Her husband, Waverly Township Supervisor Bob Reits, learned of the program this year and they chose to help, she said.

“At first we were like, are they doing it this year?”

The Christmas Farm in Mindoro has been in the Miller family for 60 years and owner Brad said he enjoys seeing customers return to his farm year after year.

While the final days before Christmas are usually the busiest shopping days of the year, one retailer is already facing its biggest week.
