But the MI chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union sees it differently and is blasting her, saying her push in MI for alternatives to traditional public schools poses great harm to traditional public education.
In 2010, the DeVos family gave $22.5 million toward the DeVos Institute of Arts Management, a program which would provide development seminars, coordinate global fellowships, and free consultation to non-profit performing arts groups. Kirtley also founded and serves as chair for Step Up For Students, the group which gives out thousands of the scholarships annually.
U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, in a release said DeVos “will be a a tremendous advocate, who parents can count on, to disrupt business as usual in Washington”.
