Kansas City Chiefs beat Denver Broncos 30-27 in overtime
The Kansas City Chiefs won a wild “Sunday Night Football” game against the Denver Broncos when they made a field goal as time expired in overtime, a kick that clanged hard off the upright and still somehow managed to go through.
“It’s kind of like being in a movie”, Santos said in try to describe the madness following his game-winning boot. In fact, Cairo Santos’s last-second field goal attempt was so close to missing, not even holder Dustin Colquitt thought it was good. No other Kansas City player has more than three.
Former Broncos linebacker Karl Mecklenburg supported the team’s decision on Monday.
“But we can do a lot of things on the front end that keep us from having those stresses on the back end”.
Midway through the third quarter, Trevor Siemian was able to extend a play from the Chiefs’ six-yard line and hit Jordan Taylor for a tip-toe touchdown. Using some intermediate throws to Travis Kelce, Smith worked the ball down the field and seemingly settled for a Santos field goal. He recovered the loose ball at the Denver 5-yard line.
Mitchell and Brady also joined forces for a four-yard score in the second quarter, while kicker Stephen Gostkowski booted three field goals. He was a bit player when the season began.
More on the Pats’ win: they ensured their 16th straight winning season, tying San Francisco (1983-98) and Dallas (1970-85) for No. 1 in the post-merger era, second to the 20 straight all-time run up by the Cowboys from 1966-85.
Really, though, this was Hill’s night. “It’s definitely fun because the whole country is watching”. Yeah Cairo nice kick, don’t ever *bleeping* do it again.
It was probably frustrating for the Broncos to see what happened between the Seahawks and Cardinals also on a Sunday night, and the Redskins and Bengals in London.
Winchester’s play delivered one of the more uplifting moments on a night field with emotions.
“We had the game in control”, Harris said. Those issues are mitigated by the emergence of Malcolm Mitchell, the growing body of outstanding work from James White, the re-emergence of Dion Lewis and greater competency on the offensive line. “Just an awesome game”.
Denver attempted a 62-yard field goal in overtime that was well short, giving the Chiefs a final chance. But Greg Olsen dropped a pass on third down that would have put Carolina in field goal range, and Khalil Mack stripped Newton on a fourth-down sack to seal the win.
With 1 minute left in the game and the game tied, Denver Broncos Head Coach Gary Kubiak had to make a decision.
I don’t even know what to say.
“They told me after the game”, Hill said. “They’ve been going down like this for years”.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Bennie Fowler (16) runs back a touchdown catch as Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Phillip Gaines (23) defends during the second half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, in Denver. If the ball comes to me, I am going to make the play. Or had they not stopped kicking his direction altogether. Denver now trails the Miami Dolphins (7-4) for the sixth postseason spot because of a tiebreaker. The one thing they can not do is succumb to pressure and fold the season away.
As the final month of the regular season approaches there are a handful of teams who have been without playoff aspirations for quite some time that are “playing for pride”, or “embracing the spoiler role”. The results shouldn’t be replicable, and yet the AFC West is perhaps the best division in the National Football League with a combined 29 wins. However, it would’ve likely meant a Denver win.
