Steve Bannon And His History Of Attacks Against Women
House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi has called the appointment “an alarming signal” that Trump “remains committed to the hateful and divisive vision that defined his campaign”. House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) handed out “Make America Great Again” hats at their morning conference meeting, and a number of members were spotted wearing them as they exited.
However, Reid’s roughly 18-minute speech was largely a condemnation of Trump, in which Reid held Trump responsible for the current national unrest and a called on him to remove Bannon, the CEO of conservative Breitbart News, from his appointed post.
Donald Trump’s election victory was a blow for many across America. “It is time for us to come together as one united people, ‘” the lawmakers wrote.
“Mr. Bannon’s record is disqualifying for serving in a White House that seeks to serve all Americans”.
“I wanted to leave a message to let you know how disappointed so many of us are in the appointment of Steve Bannon”. “We urge President-elect Trump to reconsider this ill-advised appointment if he truly seeks to unite Americans”. Bannon’s assignment has been heavily criticized by Democrats and some Republicans due to claims by opponents that the former Breitbart News chief is a supporter of white supremacy and anti-Semitism.
The appointment of Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen Bannon as Trump’s senior counselor is, however, a different story. At the same time, the American Nazi Party, the Ku Klux Klan and former KKK leader David Duke praised Trump’s pick of Bannon. He wrote: “White supremacists have made it clear that they see Bannon as their advocate in a Trump Administration, which is not only disturbing, but also risky for millions upon millions of people in Minnesota and across the country”. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Bannon was a main driver in turning Breitbart into the white nationalist propaganda mill.
“We can not bring the country together by inviting into the White House the same bigotry and hate speech that divided us on the campaign trail”, Brown said in a release. One can only hope Trump will have a change of heart and demote, or even remove, Bannon from his newest position in the next White House administration. The person in this role must be prepared to serve the interests of all Americans, not those of a select few.
