The entire world is freaking out over the Gilmore Girls revival

Sherman-Palladino left the series amid a contract dispute in the show’s final season, and later told Entertainment Weekly that she didn’t even watch the last season of the series, but diehard fans still held her to her word regarding those last four words. Obviously the father is Logan, but that doesn’t mean Rory will end up with him, just like Christopher being her dad didn’t result in him ending up with Lorelai. It’s unlikely Rory would have been setting off to cover the Obama campaign, for example, if she had just found out she was pregnant. This was in 2007. “We shifted it around a lot, did a couple of rewrites”, she said.

Depending on how much money Netflix decides to throw at Amy Sherman-Palladino, we could potentially get further episodes in future, but if that’s it, then it’s still a pretty great ending, as it’s alway better to leave ’em wanting more.

The last scene is Lorelai and Rory sitting at the gazebo with one another, laughing and talking about how Lorelai feels being married and later how Rory and Paul – her most recent, boring boyfriend – broke up via text message.

Sherman-Palladino, like any good writer, uses the grief that can’t be avoided to tell new stories and to push particularly Lorelai’s relationship with her mother to new places. History is repeating and the Gilmore line is moving forward.

Q: What do you think about the fact that we live in a world today where something like this revival is possible?

In the last episode of the revival, Rory was seen jumping for joy, telling Jess that she has finished the first few chapter of her book already. “I couldn’t have imagined that that would be the conclusion that Amy wanted”, she shared.
