Netflix Downloads Now Available for Series and Films

The feature comes free of cost with all Netflix memberships.

According to Netflix, the app update for iOS and Android phones should appear Wednesday. To remind you, Netflix puts a progress bar in your notifications and a blue bar on the bottom of the app. The shows can be downloaded in two qualities, Standard and High, the standard takes up less space while the High will obviously gobble up more space. The company has finally heard the cries of its users who can now binge-watching their favourite shows while travelling. Other Netflix original series, such as Stranger Things, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and the newly added program about Queen Elizabeth II, The Crown, are ready to download. Movies will also be included the download option.

One thing that is worth pointing out though is that not every single movie or TV show in Netflix’s catalogue is available to download for Offline Viewing. Downloading is, for now, restricted to iOS and Android devices.

What films and shows are available for download? This is similar to how the icon looks on YouTube’s offline feature.

Then just tap the new download icon on the right of the episode to download. Users who can not see the download button are advised to update their app. Eddy Wu, Netflix’s director of product innovation says the download feature is available on all plans. This feature is ideal for times if you are traveling on a plane or just want to continue binge watching something from last night on the subway.
