San Francisco 49ers open as slight underdogs to Chicago Bears
The 49ers (1-10) lost their tenth consecutive game yesterday, a 31-24 loss to Miami, while the Bears (2-9) have now lost six of their last seven games after a 27-21 loss to Tennessee.
I feel as bad for these players as anyone, but life is tough and we can’t ignore that their play is why the Bears are as bad as they are. “A lot of guys are exhausted of having to look for the bright side of it”.
“I was seeing everything clean”.
Offensively, the Bears are averaging 15.7 points and 344.1 total yards (245.3 in passing and 98.8 in rushing) per game.
Barkley may not be the answer, but he certainly looked no worse than Cutler, a player the Bears might be stuck with.
“I think we’ve taken that road a couple of times this year, quite frankly”, he said.
If Barkley makes it to a fourth straight start you will begin to see if he can adjust to defensive game plans designed against him.
Marcus Mariota is so good these days, the Tennessee Titans actually have “gimme” in their vocabulary – or at least it’s in our vocabulary when talking about the Titans.
Is The Jay Cutler Era Over? In my film review, I counted three terrible decisions and four bad throws. Barkley looked for Thompson in the end zone on fourth down, but his pass fell incomplete. That’s potentially 12 or more points we’re talking about. It’s been a very unpredictable year and the fun could just be starting. Now his season may be over, and the Bears will have to hope he’ll be ready for the start of 2017. But he threw a first-half interception and another early in the third quarter.
We will see what the Bears are made of whether it is Jay Cutler or Barkley under center.
“I have to watch the film and get better”, Sims said.
Expect more youngsters to earn more opportunities now. That massive contract becomes cuttable for the first time next season, it would cost the Bears only $2 million if they got rid of him, and the $14 million they would save would go a long way to keeping the impending free agent Alshon Jeffery and giving Kyle Fuller an extension.
After punting away the first drive of overtime, the Bears win on a safety when Titans quarterback Billy Volek fumbles in the end zone and offensive lineman Fred Miller is tackled while recovering the ball … Tackle Fred Miller recovered the fumble but was tackled in the end zone, resulting at the time in one of two games in National Football League history that ended with a safety.
The Titans didn’t sack Barkley, but they managed to make some big plays. Whether they’re targeting Logan Paulsen on crucial fourth downs instead of much better options or they’re running an offense completely predicated on launching the ball downfield and praying, the Bears’ issues clearly go beyond the quarterback position. Wilson’s career has been plagued by injuries, but he’s also flashed ability when he’s actually been on the field. He is a Bears draft pick, so he is familiar with the system. The team credited the Bears for making plays, and fighting to the end. Mariota is only going to get better in this offense. The Titans settled for a field goal.
