Lin-Manuel Miranda to adapt ‘The Kingkiller Chronicles’ for film and TV
Miranda also has an option to be involved in future stage productions.
In the musical, the blackmailing of Alexander Hamilton’s affair is left up to Aaron Burr, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson, but there was actually another blackmailer who probably shoulders more of the blame. The adaptation is being developed by Lionsgate.
Closing Time! Towards the episode’s end, Miranda quotes Semisonic’s 1998 hit song “Closing Time”, saying, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end”, as he recounts a story about Alexander Hamilton standing on a bar singing to his friends. The multitalented artist, who rose to the national spotlight with the success of his Broadway musical Hamilton, has been popping up everywhere; most recently, in the latest episode of Comedy Central’s Drunk History.
In addition to creating Hamilton, Miranda starred as the title character on Broadway until he departed this past summer. And with a grab like Lin-Manuel, the show is only going to continue to grow! His written work for the show earned him numerous accolades, including the 2008 Tony Award for Best Original Score and the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
“I’m giggly, and there’s gaps in my memory already”, Miranda said, when the narrative was only up to the Battle of Yorktown. He received his B.A. from Wesleyan University in 2002. And while the Lionsgate news is exciting, it’s hard not to draw comparisons to Game of Thrones, a similarly best-selling fantasy series that has been adapted to a TV series, which has since outpaced the slower publication of the source material. The books and novellas have sold 10 million copies.

Lin-Manuel Getting Drunk: “Imma lean forward”. Lindsey Beer is writing the film’s script. “I hope it teaches him to be fearless and to be courageous and teaches him to fight for the things that matter to him”.
Lionsgate’s home entertainment business is an industry leader in box office-to-DVD and box office-to-VOD revenue conversion rates.
