Ed Orgeron, With LSU Going Well, To Stay A Coach
After a 2-2 start this season, Alleva fired Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced them with Orgeron and interim offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger. “His daddy would have been so proud”.
Son: Yeah, but I don’t feel the same way about her and I don’t see this going anywhere better. But if you’re LSU, there are far worse positions to be in than having Ed Orgeron as your head coach. (But seems more than happy to say now that he’s seeking employment.) “You have to run the spread offense”, Orgeron said.
With that, the media conference was over and Orgeron was ready to make recruiting calls, too busy to hear the howling of his critics or accepting congratulations from his supporters.
“I’ve had my chances before”, Orgeron said Saturday after Alleva introduced him as the permanent successor to Les Miles.
After a 2-2 start this season, LSU fired Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron on September 25 and replaced them with Orgeron and interim offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger.
“That’s the best phone call I’ve ever received”, Coco said. That’s Orgeron’s biggest test, and one that will determine whether this is a good hire.
Darian Stewart proclaimed himself the “final piece of the puzzle” when he joined Denver’s “No Fly Zone” secondary a year ago. The people who know him best, his fellow Louisianans, will tell you very pointedly that he was the right choice. Everywhere we went it was ‘Coach, we want you to be the coach and represent us.’ We know what we’re representing and proud to be a part of Louisiana. And, look, he did it!
LSU will have a press conference today at NOON CT to announce its new head football coach.
“Last of all, I’d like to thank my mom and dad for all they’ve done”, he said, but couldn’t finish the sentence.

“I love the people of Louisiana”.
LSU is one of those football programs that recruits itself. His two losses came to the two teams meeting in the 2016 SEC Championship Game in the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators.
On Wednesday night, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher, who was a target of Alleva for a year, turned down LSU. Orgeron is expected to be paid between $3.5 and $4 million a year.
“I’ve always felt God had a plan for me, and this is where I was supposed to be”, Orgeron said. And is he powerful? To this day, some at Ole Miss will tell you Orgeron was borderline maniacal when he was coaching the Rebels.
Mrs. Orgeron paused again, exhaled and gathered herself.
It initially seemed as though Orgeron was a stopgap between Miles’ 12-year tenure – a time when he became the program’s most consistent victor – and the next coach, but over time it became clear Orgeron had a legitimate chance to contend for the job.
Guice and quarterback Danny Etling became the first 200-yard rusher and 300-yard passer in the same game in LSU history against the Aggies. “And I came out of there knowing it was going to be a fight to the end”.
