Dear Zindagi: Shah Rukh Khan thanks fans

Was there ever a point when you said, “Do I really love you Zindagi”, as one of the songs in the film has it?

But, surprisingly, the film seems to have managed the break-even at box-office in first three days of run. His film was powered by Kareena Kapoor Khan while Gauri had the star power of Shahrukh Khan to rely upon.

In a first, the actor is working with a female-dominated team in Gauri Shinde’s upcoming film Dear Zindagi and he couldn’t be more elated over the fact.

Gauri Shinde, also the writer of the film, has tried to fit in many issues in a script – mental health, parenting issues, woman with multiple relationships, societal pressure faced by a woman of marriageable age.

The film earlier collected Rs 20 crore in the first two days of its release and in the end the report comes to be the extraordinary.

However, the theme she chose was not quite identifiable with the Indian audience, that of a young girl needing a psychiatrist for various not-so-convincing reasons.

That Alia’s DD (dimag ka doctor) turns into dil ka doctor in Shinde’s slick zindagi ka masala is in some measure due to peppy but meaningful talk, lovely music and, of course, Alia Bhatt’s near-perfect screen presence and naturalese. But unlike Fan, Dear Zindagi isn’t hamstrung by a big budget. She is shown as pretty much insolent towards her parents, harsh in her criticism of their efforts to placate her and typically walks out whenever she doesn’t get her own way. Alia let slip that she and SRK had discussed a few story ideas for their next venture together.

You can’t have a film where the main character is a cinematographer and have bad cinematography. When Kaira’s Mumbai housekeeper learns that there are doctors who help with thoughts and feelings, she asks plainly: “Then shouldn’t everyone go see them?” This is the highest ever global weekend gross for Alia Bhatt from single country in her entire career. Starting off with tweets, they began to start post videos of Alia asking questions, and SRK answering them even in his shower.
