11 dead in Colombian military plane crash
A Colombian air force plane has crashed in the north of the country, killing all 11 of those on board.
In a Twitter message, Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos said the transport plane signaled that it was experiencing engine problems before the accident on Friday.
The burned-out wreckage of the CN235 military transport plane was discovered in Colombia’s northern province of Cesar.
Gen. Carlos Bueno, commander of the air force, said an investigation was underway but offered no clues as to what caused to the motor failure. All aboard were air force personnel, four of them officers.
In a statement, Airbus, the plane’s manufacturer, said: “The thoughts of the company and its employees are with those affected by this accident”.
The eliminated shell of this very plane was also found close to the metropolis of Codazzi, about 600 kilometer (372 distances) northeast of Bogota nearby the outer reaches along with Venezuela.
