The Mummy (Teaser Trailer)
The upcoming reboot of The Mummy has been in the works for a while now, but we finally have our first look at the film and its star, Tom Cruise. Turns out, she’s not just a dusty old mummy.
Last year, Alex Kurtzman said that the films in the monster cinematic universe would be a mix of horror and various fictional genres and he wasn’t kidding. It does feature a brief look at the titular monster, played by Sofia Boutella (Star Trek: Beyond) who’s searing eyes and full-body costume concept resemble Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress from Suicide Squad. Film technology has changed quite a bit since 1932 and all that newfangled flash is on display in a short teaser trailer for the Tom Cruise reboot. For now, watch the teaser version above.
This time around, Tom Cruise takes the lead opposite Sofia Boutella as the Mummy. Russell Crowe will also join in the fun.
Why Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the brilliant team behind TV shows like Fringe and Alias as well as the Kelvin-verse Star Trek movies, chose to reboot the beloved Mummy franchise remains a mystery.

“I’m excited to help bring The Mummy to life”, he tweeted.

The Mummy hits United Kingdom cinemas 9 June 2017.
