Hillary Clinton’s Popular Vote Lead Over Donald Trump Now Exceeds 2.3 Million
Having an Electoral College does not make sense in modern times.
Didn’t the voters voice their choice by a sizable margin?
She is not because of the 12 Amendment to the US Constitution – The Electoral College.
One Electoral vote for each representative and one for each senator.
“We are calling on the 149 Electors in those states to ignore their states’ votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton”.
K.A.: I think it’s unlikely, because Donald Trump electors are Donald Trump supporters typically.
That’s how we do it in our states with Governors and all our legislators? He could be lounging, tweeting, enjoying the adoration of his fans, and letting Clinton do all of the work he hasn’t seemed to show an interest in.
Why would any other system be necessary?
Of the more than 230 million Americans eligible to vote in the 2016 election, more than 96 million did not vote, according to Election Project figures. Since the large city votes are always for the Democrat, just appoint the Democrat running for office as the victor.
The following day, Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s former campaign manager and now a senior adviser to the president-elect, used similar language – “landslide” – to characterize the 306 electoral votes won by Trump.
For voting rights advocates, that’s code for keeping minorities and low-income voters out of voting booths. (The two exceptions to this are ME and Nebraska, where two electors are chosen by statewide popular vote and the remainder by the popular vote within each Congressional district). In other states, switching from the victor of the popular vote is a misdemeanor or a felony.
In this scenario a state with less people has more power.
There would be no need to even bother campaigning there.
“To keep this promise, I believe I must cast my vote to an alternative Republican”, she said.
The results of the Electoral College will not become official until later this year, which has led some to speculate that Clinton could still win the presidency. The most hard questions at the 1787 Constitutional Convention were: what kind of executive will we have, how will we select or elect the executive, and what should be the term of office? They are California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Tim Sifert, director of communication for the Arizona Republican Party, said there are several reasons as to why Trump is receiving backlash despite winning the election.
Other groups, like National Popular Vote, a leading non-partisan group started in the 2000s that opposes the Electoral College, have seen a recent increase in website traffic and support.
