Kellyanne Conway: I Took Argument With Jennifer Palmieri ‘Personally’
As was the case throughout the campaign, on Thursday night Trump was eager to embrace controversy rather than avoid it-crafting sound bites that would thrill the masses and end up in ceaseless broadcasts on CNN.
Clinton campaign communications director Jennifer Palmieri (left) and Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager, had a heated exchange during the traditionally cordial post-election review hosted at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
There were periods of calm, substantive discussion about data, metrics and target states, but many moments where tempers flared, with acrimony mirroring the 2016 race. Accusations of lying flew between them. “That’s very clear today that no you wouldn’t, respectfully”, said Kellyanne Conway, Trump Campaign Manager. “He was the better candidate – he won”.
“The bottom line is we won”, the President-elect said in Cincinnati.
The Trump team argued he won because he connected with voters Democrats had ignored and dismissed.
“He’s done that many times; now you’re just lying”, Conway complained.
Bannon, who joined the Trump campaign in August, is the former chairman of Breitbart, a right-wing news website that he once referred to as a “platform for the alt-right”, an offshoot of conservatism mixing racism, white nationalism and populism. “How about you had no economic message?”
Clinton Senior Adviser Karen Finney added that Trump had tapped into “underlying cultural anxiety about change that we were not willing to do”.
“I think some people are stuck in the permanent campaign, and they ought to realize that Donald Trump won 306 electoral states…”
Conway retorted: “Oh, my God, that question was vomited to me every day on TV”.
Palmieri said that Trump spoke to people in the country “to an underlying cultural anxiety about change in a way we were just not willing to do”.
“Guys, I can tell you are angry, but wow”, Conway said.
It gathers operatives from almost all of the primary and general election campaigns, as well as a large contingent of journalists, with the stated goal of beginning to compile ahistorical record.
She even went on to call the Clinton staffers sore losers, which led to Benenson pointing out all the “dog whistles” Trump sent out at his rallies. “She’s going to jail, she’s going to jail any minute now”.
“You guys are bitter”, she went on.
You think that’s because of what you just said or because people aren’t ready for a woman president? While at first he proclaimed that “We are not going to be divided for long”, Trump went on to say, “We did have a lot of fun fighting Hillary, didn’t we?” to a crowd that was chanting “Lock her up!”
At times both campaigns blamed the media. Instead, Trump embraced his remarks, holding a press conference where he never apologized and further criticized McCain. “And the problem with that is the American people didn’t”.
When SBS News spoke to some of the Republican Women for Hillary, days before the election, they were confident Mrs Clinton would become the next US President, making history as the first female Commander in Chief. He promised to appoint a special prosecutor to “look into” Hillary Clinton during his campaign, but he has since rolled back the idea. She’s Donald Trump’s third campaign manager this election cycle.
