Cowboys LB Justin Durant leaves game vs. Washington with a hamstring injury

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott keep winning for the Dallas Cowboys, even with Kirk Cousins setting records for the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins’ next game will be played on December 4 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Elliott got the home team on the board with a four-yard touchdown run at the 11:09 mark of the first quarter. That wasn’t the case Thursday. He was averaging more than 100 yards per game the previous three.

Cousins worked the Washington offense to the Dallas 19 yard line on its opening possession, but came away with nothing when kicker Dustin Hopkins missed a 43-yard field goal attempt. The team failed on a two-point conversion. On the series, the Cowboys never faced a third down.

“Over and over and over again, at critical moments, (Prescott) came up with a big play”, Dallas coach Jason Garrett said.

Getting beat up isn’t the m.o. for this Dallas team with its dominant offensive line and rushing attack that takes advantage of it appropriately. Prescott lost his mother, Peggy, following a battle with colon cancer during her son’s second season of action (2013) in Starkville, Mississippi. The Redskins seemed as if they didn’t have a plan entering the drive, and at one point called time out after a first-down play they had huddled on. They need Cousins in order to have a chance against the now-Dak-led Cowboys in the NFC East. Both of the Cowboys’ trips into the red zone ended with a touchdown as well. The miss turned the half around and the subsequent score put Dallas firmly in control in the game, and the division. “We’re on a roll, we’ve got a lot of momentum, we’re playing good ball and we’re just focused on building on this and becoming a better team every week”. Then Dallas gets the longer break before a December 11 visit to the New York Giants that is likely to be a battle of the top two teams in the division.

Prescott capped the 75-yard drive with a six-yard TD run with 10:49 remaining.

The Steelers built a 21-7 lead by scoring touchdowns on each of their first three possessions — a 5-yard TD run from Le’Veon Bell, and touchdown catches by Brown of 25 and 33 yards. The tide was ever-so-slightly shifting.

The Cowboys could thank Mother Nature in part for holding Washington to six points in the first half. Chris Jones punted the ball twice, putting both of them inside the 20.

I think the ugly for the Dallas Cowboys yesterday against the Washington Redskins was seeing yet another defensive back go down with an injury. The play developed the same way as the last third down. Prescott has shown time and time again that field position means very little to him.

However, Hopkins’ onside-kick attempt bounced out of bounds, and the Cowboys ran out the clock to seal the win. They couldn’t hold Prescott in the pocket, and he escaped to run for numerous back-breaking first downs. Play on him, he throws on a dime.

For Ezekiel Elliott, who fell 3 yards shy of yet another 100 yard rushing game, it was the joy of the moment, in his first holiday game as an National Football League pro.

The football team from Dallas was 9-1 entering Thanksgiving and it was a real-deal record – they weren’t paper champions like, say, the Raiders appear to be. They have their 10th win by Thanksgiving for only the second time since 1995 – the last of their five Super Bowl championship seasons.
