Tennessee Titans history against the Chicago Bears
There are so many things that can happen after 2016, including Jay Cutler remaining with the Chicago Bears. But thanks for clicking.
The play was 29 Lead, and it will go down in history as how Ohio State beat MI in one of the greatest games ever played by the Big Ten’s most storied rivals.
Bears quarterback Matt Barkley impressed the coaching staff Sunday.
With Barkley heating up late on that cushy secondary and with conservative Mike Mularkey coaching taking the ball out of Mariota’s hands, it was up to the defense to avoid complete disaster.
What’s encouraging is that Barkley showed enough ability to warrant a second look.
“I thought he hung in there pretty good, because be got whacked pretty good on some good throws”, Fox said.
But there were 10 dropped passes. Barkley’s fourth quarter performance proved that he is at least worth a look.
He’s a well-traveled backup quarterback from Southern Cal.
No one should get ahead of themselves.
In fairness to Barkley, had Marquess Wilson, Cameron Meredith, Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson and Jordan Howard not flat out dropped at least seven really pretty passes – three of which should have been touchdowns – between them, his numbers would be better, but still would move only from bad to closer to average.
The Chicago Bears don’t have a whole lot to play for entering Week 12, but the Tennessee Titans sure do. It was the first career touchdown pass for Barkley and the first career TD reception for Brown. We found a way to win and we need some of those games. They move to a dismal 2-9 record.
Plus, what if Fox is fired after the season? “You want to stack up as many wins as you can, especially in our position”, Tennessee running back DeMarco Murray told reporters. “I’m ready for the result (win)”. “But we’re just going to keep battling and keep fighting and coming every day with our “A” game”.
If Barkley makes it to a fourth straight start you will begin to see if he can adjust to defensive game plans designed against him.
After heading into halftime up 21-7 and the fourth quarter up 27-7, the Titans inexplicably let the Bears come roaring back.
Cutler is officially out for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans after sitting out at practice all week, and Matt Barkley is slated to start under center. With two years left on his contract, that decision will be made collectively by ownership, Ted Phillips, and Pace.
With the right results, they could jump back into action to prepare for a December 11 home game against the Broncos holding a share of first place.
On CBS Chicago’s website, former Chicago Bears Director of College Scouting Greg Gabriel spoke about Barkley. It’s not Jay Cutler arm strength, but it’s more than adequate for the NFL. Barkley should have thrown the ball away instead of lobbing the ball into the end zone, but it was a rare time Sunday when he was under significant pressure.
