Samsung Galaxy A (2018) Smartphones Could Pack Dual-Edge Curved Displays
The tipster has shared that the much-awaited Galaxy S8 smartphone, the successor to the Galaxy S7, will not boast a dual-lens camera setup and instead continue with the single rear camera module. However, the said smartphone was not featured in last year’s beta party when the Samsung held an official Android 7.0 Nougat beta program.
That’s still a way off, so we’d recommend taking this latest report with due caution. The information has come from the increasingly informative Chinese social media site Weibo, with an insider whose predictions have come true on several occasions previously indicating his belief that Samsung has shelved the dual-camera in the S8.
Meanwhile, Samsung has engaged consultants to look into a possible reorganization of the company’s structure, a review process that could take up to six months to complete.
The Galaxy S8 is expected to launch early 2017. We know Samsung will go back to the well for the Note and S8 and expect a few other players to enter the edge game.
In terms of design, the Galaxy A7 (2017) is expected to be largely similar to its predecessor, with the fingerprint scanner embedded inside the physical home button on the front. So it’s not that the company has something against the technology per se, it just won’t use it in the Galaxy S8.
Samsung is also rumored to be working on a Force Touch display for the phone.
Samsung Pay has already been available in Thailand since October 27th.
In addition to semiconductors and smartphones, Samsung’s R&D is also expected to keep focusing on artificial intelligence, virtual reality, flexible screen technologies and smart automotive technologies. However, curved displays are now becoming a mainstream feature, especially in case of top end mobile sets.
It seems like battery issues with Samsung devices won’t be going away anytime soon. As a result, many people apparently now associate the Galaxy S7 with the exploding Note 7, causing a lot of confusion on the market, but also undermining the company’s position with the Galaxy line as a whole. Miurmurings on this topic would only increase if Samsung does indeed include a 4K resolution display in the Galaxy S8.
“Samsung has said that customers chose another Samsung model as a replacement for the Note 7 in a majority of instances, without giving more detail”, Reuters reported.
