Jovetic ends his struggle at City with loan to Inter
Manchester City have confirmed that Stevan Jovetic will go to Inter Milan.
Jovetic joined City from Fiorentina in the summer of 2013, but after not playing regularly in Manuel Pellegrini’s side, the player was grateful when Inter came calling.
A statement on City’s official website read: “Stevan Jovetic has signed for Inter Milan on a year-and-a-half’s loan with a view to a permanent transfer”.
The 25-year-old Jovetic merely needs a stretch of uninterrupted fitness to prove he is the player City believed him to be when they paid more than £20 million for him.
Inter chief Erick Thohir is delighted with the addition of Jovetic to the Serie A outfit’s squad, saying: “We are excited by the signing of Jovetic”.
The Montenegrin moved to the 2010 Champions League winners on loan, but Inter are obliged to purchase the former Fiorentina forward at the end of his temporary spell. “Even when I was in good shape, the coach never let me play”. In any case, I don’t want to talk about City. Mancini already wanted me in 2008 and then brought me to City, so I am happy to be back working with him again.
“I am happy to be in Italy and especially to be at Inter”, Jo-Jo told Inter Channel. I wish them all the best.
However, debilitating injuries blighted the forward’s opportunities to play, with Jovetic only making 11 Premier League starts and scoring eight goals over the last 24 months.
