AWS looks to take the drudge work out of data analysis

To help AWS cloud customers with that analysis workload, the company today unveiled AWS Glue. With the new Snowmobile service, Amazon says you could ship one exabyte (an exabyte is 1,000 petabytes) of data to AWS in about six months – a feat which would take roughly 26 years over a 10Gbps dedicated connection. AWS will also play host to Rekognition, a new image recognition service.

Redlands, California-November 30, 2016-At this year’s AWS re:Invent, global smart-mapping leader Esri announced that customers can now deploy select ArcGIS licenses from Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace instantly, using a pay-per-use pricing model available through hourly or annual subscriptions.

In addition, although President-elect Donald Trump notably called out Amazon for antitrust issues, Jassy said he isn’t anxious about that affecting the company’s ability to get government cloud business. “It’s essentially crawling around, looking for patterns in the data that the enterprise may not know of”.

AWS Greengrass eliminates the complexity involved in programming and updating IoT devices by allowing customers to use AWS Lambda to run code locally on virtually any connected device in the same way they do on the AWS Cloud.

Amazon also announced Snowball Edge which will stay where the customer place it, helping in storage and computing domestically.

“Improvements to work with enterprise workloads are very important”, he said. “Companies can not afford to wait two or three years between releases, and customers have found that continually releasing incremental functionality to customer frequently reduces risk and improves quality”, he said. With more than 350 partners at launch, the program helps qualified APN Partners build and accelerate their AWS Public Sector business. Snowmobile is method of data transport that the company is adopting.

“This will really help you protect yourselves even against the largest and most sophisticated attacks we’ve seen”, he said on Thursday at AWS re:Invent, a conference in Las Vegas that drew 32,000 attendees.
