Steelers end Giants’ winning streak at 6 in 24-14 victory
Moreover, New York’s expensive defense has made tremendous strides throughout the year and is a big reason for their current winning streak.
The Steelers’ defense does a great job stalling out a Giants’ drive on fourth down. Manning has the visitors on a six-game winning streak after a three-game skid earlier in the season.
Following a safety, the Steelers hit on a big play when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger connected with tight end Ladarius Green for a 37-yard gain.
After the Giants get a turnover on an interception, they are marching toward the end zone.
Damon Harrison’s forced fumble in a second straight game led to an Eli Apple recovery and a Rashad Jennings screen-pass touchdown to draw within 14-7 at 6:37 to play in the third quarter. The Giants’ defense has been getting after quarterbacks with one of the better pass rushes in the league, while the secondary led by Landon Collins and Janoris Jenkins also has turned into something best to be avoided.
NYG: CB Coty Sensabaugh (rib), DT Johnathan Hankins (bruised thigh, returned), DE Jason Pierre-Paul (groin), WR Dwayne Harris (ankle). QB Eli Manning, LB Jonathan Casillas, and LS Zak DeOssie are season-long captains. The two will look to disrupt Ben Roethlisberger’s rhythm as often as possible on Sunday.
Williams has battled injuries throughout the season since starting running back Le’Veon Bell returned from his suspension. The multi-dimensional All-Pro has accumulated 699 yards rushing and 437 yards receiving in only eight games, averaging 26 touches per game. Even if they step up, the Steelers defensive backs don’t have a chance against the Giants star wide receiver.
NY briefly got back into it in the third quarter when Bell fumbled at the Pittsburgh 17 and Manning flipped a short pass to Rashad Jennings for a 13-yard score. The Giants, however, suffered two of their three losses away from home making Sunday’s matchup a fantastic one. The Giants have not allowed a 100-yard rusher yet this season and will need to continue that trend if they want to be successful on Sunday. The Steelers have given Bell at least 23 carries in each of the last three games, and he’s posted 35 or more touches in two of those contests.
Four of those wins by Giants have come against teams with losing records. The Steelers will have Antonio Brown return punts, so it only makes sense to have Beckham do it as well in a game that’s important to both teams.
