Green Party-backed voters drop bid for statewide Pennsylvania recount
PUEBLO’S ELECTION turnout mirrored the state in some ways, but defied the odds by voting Republican rather than Democrat for president.
Understanding how faithless electors could theoretically take the presidency from Trump requires first understanding how the Electoral College works.
The campaign probably spent too much time watching cable TV stations and listening to the pollsters, pretty much all of whom predicted for weeks that Hillary would triumph. Toxic politics have degenerated to rank-and-file hatred of the other side. Accusations of lying flew between them. Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway responded. We’ve had free and fair elections.
But the Clinton team did not back down. A particularly tense subject was Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon, who has been a controversial White House staff pick for Trump.
“Now that a recount is underway, we believe we have an obligation to the more than 64 million Americans who cast ballots for Hillary Clinton to participate in ongoing proceedings to ensure that an accurate vote count will be reported”, Elias wrote. “How about you had no economic message?” In the 30 days before the election, “Donald Trump” was Googled more in states that he lost than in those he won. She was hired on special assignment by the Clinton campaign to help understand undecided voters.
“Guys, I can tell you are angry, but wow”, Conway said. Kellyanne Conway asked incredulously.
Conway: Really? And that’s how you lost?
Of course, the loss had nothing to do with how Hillary ran her campaign.
According to CBS News, Clinton spokeswoman Karen Finney then interjected, “If he’s going to be my president, then he needs to show me that white supremacy is not acceptable just steps from the Oval Office”. “Secretary Clinton was gracious … she congratulated Donald Trump and she also conceded to him”. “It’s impossible to think that a honeymoon will follow all the nastiness and name-calling”, said Robert Schmuhl, a University of Notre Dame professor. But a week ago, she was relieved when she met many of those same people at a funeral, and found they could hug and comfort one another despite their differences.
“We were expecting to perform better with suburban women in particular”.
Obviously, voters didn’t get the elite’s message. Lewandowski said he told Trump not to go there.
“This is the problem with the media”. “The American people didn’t”.
Since Election Day, Trump has sat down for a nationally televised interview on “60 Minutes”, and he talked on the record with journalists at the New York Times for an hour.
Several Clinton advisers also argued that there was unfair “double standard” for Clinton within the press that was driven partly by her gender. “She immediately explained that she regretted”, Mook added.
Lewandowski said he had counseled Trump to apologize. But with the Trump and Clinton teams face to face, and with the weight of history being written, it turned ugly fast.
“I contest that. We had a lot of fun on this campaign”.
Clinton’s advisers said they were harmed by Russians meddling in the election and the “drip, drip, drip” of news about Hillary Clinton’s emails, followed by the hacking of John Podesta’s emails that revealed internal campaign deliberations.
“I think it definitely could have alienated some voters, and that’s why she got out there right away”, Mook admitted reluctantly in a forum discussion hosted earlier this week by CNN’s Jake Tapper.
For the final panel of the day, senior operatives from the Trump and Clinton campaigns sat across from each other around a big rectangular formation of tables. “We do think that was because of the Comey letter”, Mook said.
