Injury roundup: Aaron Rodgers active for Packers
On paper, this should be a matchup between two offensive-minded head coaches, in Mike McCarthy and Bill O’Brien. “It’s a huge game for us”.
The Packers are 2-0 since Rodgers’ bold statement and got back to.500 with Sunday’s 21-13 victory over the Houston Texans at a snow-covered Lambeau Field.
“I feel like we’re very close to exploding as an offense”, Osweiler said, via ProFootballTalk.
He didn’t have a choice, really.
Aaron Rodgers’ sore left hamstring appears to be OK.
The Houston Texans defense which has been forced to over-perform week after week just o keep Houston in games froze down the stretch against Green Bay.
Texans tight end Ryan Griffin fumbled on Houston’s opening series, giving the Packers the ball at the Texans 24-yard line. “It starts with one first down when you’re backed up”. “We’re backs against the wall, 4-6, obviously struggling (before last week’s game at Philadelphia)”. “Our last few drives were back on the 2 (and) 11”. As he moved to his right to extend the play, Rodgers showed just enough burst to get around Texans defensive end Ufomba Kamalu. “Did the same this week”.
The question now becomes: How much longer can Rodgers continue to carry such a heavy burden?
Peppers has sacks in three straight games. After the Texans tied the game in the third, Rodgers led a 98-yard drive he finished with a 32-yard strike to a wide-open Jordy Nelson. That being said, Houston represents a tough matchup for Rodgers, as their pass defense is ranked fifth in the league, allowing 209.2 yards through the air per game. Jordy Nelson stepped up however and tallied 118 yards on eight catches for a touchdown.
Cobb found the end zone early but also contributed two fine punt returns of 21 and 23 yards. “But we stuck with it. Guys stepped up”.
Actually, he’s been doing it for a while. If not for the passes that were dropped, his grade would have been higher than [Packers quarterback Aaron] Rodgers.
Though the offense stalled at times on Sunday in a game where snow was falling throughout, Osweiler looked better than he did the previous week.
If that play was designed by McCarthy, however, he deserves the criticism for its futility. “The guy’s an outstanding leader”.
Footing appears to be an issue with snow falling throughout the half.
“But it’s true we are three, four plays away from changing multiple football games”.
December football comes down to running the ball. I think once we get past this week, I think we’ll be fine. We’re all able to see it on the film.
