Modi briefed on Jaya’s health by Venkaiah Naidu

Doctors have given abundant care to save her. Specialists from Delhi AIIMS and London have been flown in to treat her during the period. However, she continues as the chief minister and Paneerselvam will also preside over cabinet meetings. The Honourable Chief Minister was immediately administered resuscitation (CPR), and provided ECMO support within the hour.

In a statement issued here a short while ago, the hospital said, “Some TV channels are wrongly reporting that the Chief Minister is no more”.

“Her life was dedicated to the socio-economic transformation of Tamil Nadu and its people”.

But when she was all set for a discharge this occurred of a heart attack and her body fought with death for about 24hours and finally she was no more.

Jayalalithaa was first admitted to the hospital for treatment of fever and dehydration on September 22.

It was reported that the actor-turned-politician suffered a cardiac arrest at around 4:30pm IST on 4 December. This declaration was updated on Tamil Nadu education department website on Monday. Then she was found to have lung congestion, put on a ventilator and was given a tracheostomy, in which doctors made an opening in her windpipe to accommodate a breathing tube. On November 19, she was taken out of the intensive care unit to a hospital room, but was moved back on Sunday.
