Sam DuBose Protests in Cincinnati Lead to Arrests
At least six people were arrested during a rally in Cincinnati protesting the deadly shooting of a driver during a traffic stop. The video shows Tensing shoot DuBose who was seated in his auto and appeared to be preparing to drive off.
Tensing bonded out of jail mere hours after pleading not guilty during a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
Tensing’s attorney has said Tensing fired at DuBose because he thought he was going to be dragged under the motorist’s vehicle.
Catherine Brockton, the union’s executive director, told The Huffington Post that Tensing won’t get his job back while charges against him are pending. Then the video becomes shaky, but a gunshot can be heard and DuBose appears to be slumped in the seat before the vehicle rolls away, coming to stop at a nearby corner.
Yet body camera video shows Tensing was not dragged, and that was reflected in Kidd and Lindenschmidt’s official statements in in-depth interviews with police, Deters said, noting their statements at the scene were not official.
The incident was described by a local prosecutor as a “senseless, asinine shooting”. “He purposely killed him”, Deters said. Overall, the protests were peaceful and there were no reports of violent arrests.
Despite Tensing being indicted for murder and involuntary manslaughter charges, the two officers have gotten off clear of any charges.
