Luck Throws for 4 TDs, Colts Rout Jets 41-10
Andrew Luck led the game in passing, completing 22 of 28 attempts for 278 yards and 4 touchdowns. Luck’s return is very important for the Colts, as his backup Scott Tolzien lost last week’s game against Pittsburgh.
The 5-6 Colts against the 3-8 Jets on Monday Night Football is not going to set the world on fire.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) – Boys just want to have fun.
Andrew Luck will start tonight’s game after his concussion warning was lifted. And if they don’t have its full arsenal against the Jets, it could be a long day for the visitors because New York’s front seven is as good as any. “If you watch, I kind of looked up late”, Enunwa said of the play.
Not that Luck had to work very hard against the hosts, who were booed by a much-less-than-filled MetLife Stadium nearly from the outset. They took off with, as Kevin Harlan said on the broadcast, “great speed”. “They play man. If you can’t win man, you can’t play”.
With weeks running out before the end of the season this is effectively a must win situation for Indianapolis and they will be going out tonight knowing they can not afford to lose this one. At 5-6, they are in third place behind Houston and Tennessee. “In practice I would make plays but in games I wasn’t able to put it all together”. “To be up 7-0 (immediately) means a lot”.
Exciting football is something the Jets haven’t produced too often this season, and with a record of 3-8, their chances of making something of 2016 is pretty much over. The Colts are one of the worst three teams in the league against the pass, giving up better than 290 yards through the air per game.
And when Allen set a career best with this third TD reception on a flawless 23-yard throw from Luck, the rout was on. Hilton went over 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his five pro seasons. The second year veteran has been a hybrid safety this season and is second on the team in tackles. The Jets (3-9), losers of four straight, were officially eliminated from playoff contention. Following a pass interference call on the Jets, Jack Doyle caught a pass and scrambled toward the end zone, but as he reached for the goal line, the ball came loose and hit the pylon for a touchback.
Luck’s quarterback counterpart, Ryan Fitzpatrick, was benched by Jets coach Todd Bowles. He struggled, going 11-for-25 for 135 yards a touchdown and two interceptions.

NOTES: A moment of silence was held prior to the game in honor of former Jets RB Joe McKnight, who was murdered in a road rage incident last Thursday. RG Denzelle Good also sustained a concussion. Center Nick Mangold will start for the Jets after missing four games with a sprained ankle.
Another showdown with Houston looms next week at Lucas Oil Stadium. So it’s unclear what the specifics are, but what we do know is that the plane landed in Indy and is now grounded due to mechanical issues, meaning that the team is delayed two-plus hours in getting to their destination.
The Jets have a short week to prepare for the woeful San Francisco 49ers (1-11).
