December to Unload Cold Air Over Delmarva
An Arctic cold front will sweep in Thursday, bringing temperatures to the mid-20s, Erickson said. There are still a lot of questions regarding the timing and track of this storm which could mean the difference between accumulating snow, an icy mix or just rain. Our Southern Indiana areas have the best chance for light snow early Sunday. We will have a very hard time getting past the low 40s, and the wind will make it feel colder. The clouds will slowly clear through the afternoon, but may not fully clear until early Friday morning. It will be frigid and blustery at times tomorrow and Friday as temperatures fall.
The wind will begin to pick up Thursday night and the true Arctic air will start to invade. Sure, we’ll see worse wind chills in January or February, but we’re not quite used to the teens yet.
Howdy everyone and good Wednesday morning to you. Highs will reach only the mid-30s, and it’s one of the few days that we won’t be seeing snowflakes. Chance flurries. High: Low 40s.
In the meantime, we expect our high temperatures to be single digits the low teens above zero and are overnight lows to be single digits below zero, some of the coldest air the season. Highs won’t leave the mid 30s for Friday and Saturday with lows well into the low to mid 20s. Frost will be widespread across most of the area except right at the immediate coastline. A few icy spots are possible on the roads, but black ice isn’t a big issue as we stayed dry most of Wednesday.
A warming trend will begin quickly Saturday as southerly winds return. It won’t turn out to be our most enjoyable day of the forecast.
