Trump Named Time’s ‘Person of the Year’
This time around, Time Magazine had a very short list of potential candidates for the title. You have to have influenced news some sort of way all year.
“It’s a great honor”.
Apparently many people viewed the positioning of Trump’s photo over the red “M” in “TIME” as a deliberate attempt to give the president-elect satanic growths rising from his coiffed combover.
“For those who believe this is all for the better, Trump’s victory represents a long-overdue rebuke to an entrenched and arrogant governing class”, the magazine said. He has said that he’s like a “supermodel, except, like, times 10”.
Love him or despise him, it can not be overstated just how much of an effect Trump has had on this year and this nation.
Having featured on the TIME cover for first time in 1989, this is going to be Donald Trump’s tenth appearance on the magazine.
Here’s how Twitter trolled Trump after TIME’s Person of the Year was announced. “So, I didn’t do anything to divide”.
He kept going at a rally a week later in Mesa, Arizona. “It is a tremendous honor, I am lucky to be on the cover of Time in the past”. “No, they should have”, Trump said.
But now, the joke is on TIME Magazine… No, it’s a cool thing. “And they love me and I love them”, he told the magazine.
And critics are just bummed Time picked someone so divisive. She let the migration come right into Germany. But none of them have ripped an entire country apart and possibly ushered in a new era of white supremacy, so the choice was pretty “straightforward”, as Time managing editor Nancy Gibbs put it. “It’s hard to argue that anyone had more influence than Donald Trump over the events of this year”.
70 year old Trump, whose victory of Democrat rival Hillary Clinton nearly exactly a month ago shocked the world and upset the predictions of virtually the entire political profession, won out of an 11-strong shortlist that included Clinton herself, pop star Beyonce and Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg.
Democrat Hillary Clinton was the No. 2 finalist.
