Biden not ruling out presidential bid in 2020
“For president”, Biden said.
Biden was asked about his plans while chatting with reporters after presiding over Senate debate on a biomedical research bill he’s supporting. While most expressed their approval in tweets of encouragement, others displayed their excitement by posting memes. “Definitely, I am. Will run once more”.
“For what?” a reporter inquired.
Biden continued, “I’m not committing not to run”. I’m not committing to anything. Asked if that means he’s keeping the door open, the VP said, “I can’t see the circumstance in which I’d run”, but that being said, he added that he’s learned to “never say never”.
This would be Mr Biden’s third shot at the presidency and those on the left are already trumpeting his appeal to working-class voters who were won over by Mr Trump’s populist policies.
NBC News reporter Kelly O’Donnell warned him: “We’re gonna run with that sir, you know”.
Before senators approved the measure, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., announced a last-minute amendment: to rename the cancer funding provisions in honor of Beau Biden. Barack Obama. Biden will turn 78 not long after the 2020 race. “I’m not committed to anything”, Biden said, according to the Los Angeles Times.
