Suarez – Barca deserved more than point
For Modric at Madrid, read Andres Iniesta for Barcelona. Even the draws are feeling like victories. It’s a point that we add, but it keeps going.
“We closed the space between the lines, went ahead from a set-piece, we had the ball, tried to score the second and nearly didn’t even give away a chance against an opponent of that quality”.
“We’ve got a six-point advantage, but that won’t change anything”.
In contrast, Ronaldo had three attempts in the opening 45 minutes as Luka Modric dominated for Real in midfield.
“It is a hugely important and deserved point”. This is a long-run thing and we have to work hard until the end. We’ll continue picking up points and see what happens in the next game.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi runs with the ball during the Spanish La Liga soccer match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona, Spain, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016. Unbeaten since losing at Wolfsburg in early April, Zinedine Zidane’s side came into this match without losing any of their last 32 matches.
Not for the first time Real were bailed out by their inspired captain as Ramos rose highest to power home Luka Modric’s free-kick as the game entered stoppage time. “We have to just go from game to game”.
Ramos’ equaliser cancelled out Luis Suarez’s 53rd-minute opener for Barca and helped Madrid extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 33 matches. But since then it has thrived, winning nine of its last 11 games.
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was disappointed with the result.
In the first half we saw two good teams trying to control the ball, an equal duel without real chances, with a lot of tension and evenness.
