Mitt Romney: President-elect Trump can lead American to a better future
Some break bread to put the past behind them.
In it, Bruni shares his opinion about why President-elect Donald Trump should choose former presidential nominee and LDS member Mitt Romney as his Secretary of State.
“I had a wonderful evening with President-elect Trump”, the former MA governor declared to the press after a final course of chocolate cake.
Mr Romney heaped more praise on his would-be boss by praising his “message of inclusion and bringing people together” since his shock election.
Romney told reporters after the dinner that he has “increasing hope” that Trump could lead America to a “better future”.
“You have never, ever, in your career seen a wealthy adult who is independent, has been a presidential candidate, suck up at the rate that Mitt Romney is sucking up”, Gingrich said.
The former governor’s tone is notably different than his sharp criticism of Trump during the campaign.
Several close aides to Trump have lambasted the idea of nominating Romney for the position.
He replied: “Well we’re gonna see what happens”. He has a law degree and an MBA from Harvard University and completed undergraduate training at BYU, after starting at Stanford University.
President-elect Donald Trump moved to fill out his Cabinet Tuesday, tapping Georgia Rep. Tom Price to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. “I know Mitt is up for secretary of state, but I also know what Mitt said during the campaign”. Bob Corker, another contender for the State post, on Tuesday in New York City. Campaign manager Kellyanne Conway today posted on Twitter stating she has been “Receiving deluge of social media & private comms re: Romney Some Trump loyalists warn against Romney as sec of state”.
Amid rumors that the former MA governor might be nominated for Secretary of State, Romney met Trump for dinner at Trump Tower. After all, he may very well have been Trump’s harshest critic during the primaries and afterward. Ms. Haley, the daughter of Sikh immigrants, clashed with Trump over his comments about Mexicans and Muslims and endorsed Sens.
All four require Senate confirmation.
I don’t think that there is anything inherently hypocritical about the prospect of Romney accepting a position in the Trump administration. He also falsely claimed that millions of people had voted illegally in the presidential election and provided no evidence to back up the baseless charge.
