Klopp: There is no time frame on Daniel Sturridge’s return
Sadio Mane has scored 11 goals in his last 10 Premier League home appearances for Southampton and Liverpool.
Klopp on Friday said he had “no idea” when Sturridge will return to Liverpool’s squad and Bilic pinpointed the 27-year-old’s fitness issues as problematic. “When you win a game like this, like Norwich or Dortmund, it’s not sure that you are prepared for the next situation”. Hopefully he will be back as quick as possible but at this moment I have no idea. We were passive, which is not usual for us.
“If there’s any influence on the next game? But that is the most important thing”.
But the way West Ham went missing against Arsenal last weekend, when the visitors could have been four, not just one, ahead at the break, revealed a chronic confidence crisis just when pressure games against fellow strugglers Hull City, Burnley and Swansea City loom.
‘When will Sturridge return?
I don’t expect there to be a huge hangover from that result though as Klopp is a hugely positive manager by nature and that has to rub off on the players.
West Ham sit just one point above the relegation zone, but Bilic is confident his side can exploit Liverpool’s weaknesses on Merseyside.
The defending in the West Ham ranks has been appalling and it now appears that their star attacking players are downing tools – most notably, Dimitri Payet.
“The defeat against Arsenal on Saturday was not easy and it was a big defeat for us to handle”.
The good news for manager Slaven Bilic is he will have starters Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell back for this match. They have had injuries.
It was a kamikaze game on the South Coast with Bournemouth coming back from 3-1 down to level and then net a late victor to take all three points.
“The players that were there when I was there have got greater experience now – (Philippe) Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva – these are guys that have been through it”.
“That 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth was another great illustration of what Liverpool are all about – great going forward but very vulnerable without their first-choice back four”.
The previous three Premier League games to involve Liverpool on a Sunday this campaign have all produced seven goals (21 in total).
He said: “When I see my team mates I know that they have quality”.
