Don’t expect Apple’s Airpods to be released any time soon
(NASDAQ:AAPL) promised a costly solution to its iPhone 7 without the regular audio 3.5mm jack and with a single USB Type-C port: Wireless earbuds.
It is surprising to see Apple keep delaying the release of a device that was meant to be a companion of the iPhone 7.
Apple, a company that’s usually on top of things when it comes to announcing products, quickly making them available for purchase, and then shipping them out promptly, has been facing quite a bit of trouble with their forthcoming AirPods.
Despite being officially unveiled in September and scheduled for release in October, there is still no sign of Apple’s new wireless headphones.
Unlike the Jabra Buds that fit neatly in ones ears the Apple offering are ostentatious and one gets the feeling that they will fall out which is most probably why Apple is trying to design a find me function for the AirPods. What’s gone wrong? According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is having technical issues with the AirPods. As per the revised estimates, you can expect the launch of AirPods in January 2017. The Apple AirPods are created to instantly connect to a compatible device, such as an iPhone, iPad, etc. The custom-designed charging case holds additional charge of more than 24 hours of total listening time, ensuring AirPods are charged and ready to go anytime.
This means the U.S. tech giant must make sure the audio arrives at the same time to avoid distortion.
It is still not clear when exactly Apple will release the AirPods as it now lists the item as “coming soon” on its website. According to The Journal’s report, Apple said that each AirPod earpiece can receive an independent signal, meaning, it can work with any phone.
The Apple AirPods apparently use the company’s own proprietary communications chip, which is different from what other wireless earphones and headsets use. However, the number of units ordered are somewhat small than expected between 10 to 15 million. “These AirPods are my favorite new Apple product in years – exactly as they are”.
Priced at $159 (approximately Rs. 10,700) in the USA, the AirPods are expected to hit the Indian market with a price tag of close to Rs. 15,000.
