Lions’ coach says Stafford can play despite finger problem
The quarterback is expected to play through the injury, but his official playing status for Week 15 against the New York Giants has yet to be announced.
But Stafford was able to redeem himself with just minutes left when he ran in his first touchdown of the season for seven yards to retake the lead for the Lions and secure a 20-17 win.
But with the help of trainers and a quick tape job – “That was about as makeshift as it can be”, Stafford said – he managed to complete six of his seven attempts on the ensuing drive, including that scrambling 48-yard completion to Marvin Jones. “Last week was a lot more fun. Any time you can get a win in the division”.
Stafford is among the most durable players in the National Football League, starting every single game for the Lions since 2011 despite taking a pounding behind bad offensive lines year after year.

Yes, the Lions are back to giving their fan weekly heart checks. Swanson has had a phenomenal season and you could see the line struggled without him at center.
Stafford wore several different gloves against the Bears, trying to get a feel for one he was comfortable with, but he said he’s not sure if he’ll wear a glove for the Lions’ remaining three games.
After the play, Stafford said Monday he looked down at his hand and “it just wasn’t all where it was supposed to be”.
“It kind of was like riding a bike just to be honest”, Barkley said about replacing injured Jay Cutler.
“So that may be put on my resume, but it’s a total team thing”. The reason for the unders is the defense, as they have held their last six opponents to 20 points or less. Been here many times.
