Pack is back: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay rout Seahawks 38-10
Four teams Green Bay is trying to chase down in the NFC playoff race all won close games even before the Packers and Seattle Seahawks squared off Sunday at Lambeau Field. We’re getting better as a football team and that’s the thing I’m most excited about. It was the 57 Rodgers to Nelson touchdown tying Brett Favre to Antonio Freeman on the all-time touchdown connection list in Packers history.
The Packers’ defense did its part, too. Th veteran quarterback used a mixture of short and deep passes to carve up Seattle’s stingy defense. If he is forced to miss time because of the calf, the Packers are in big trouble.
That brought up third-and-1, and when Adams got behind Seattle CB Jeremy Lane down the far sideline, Rodgers rolled to his right and fired a ideal pass.
If the season were to end today, the Green Bay Packers would not be in the playoffs.
Already playing with a sore left hamstring, Rodgers said he hurt his right calf while throwing a tone-setting, 66-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams on the game’s opening drive. Wilson went 12 of 21 for 247 yards and two touchdowns in the Super Bowl.
The Packers were left to fend for themselves against the Seahawks, widely considered the second-best team in the NFC behind Dallas. The next week, Wilson began his meteoric rise to fame with a 4th quarter comeback victory over the Patriots, 24-23. The tight end tripped over Burnett’s feet, sending Graham to the ground as the ball arrived. That turnover led to a 1-yard touchdown run by receiver Ty Montgomery. Green Bay reserve nose tackle Christian Ringo hit the ball out of Collins’ arms. The Seahawks got a field goal to respond, and midway through the first quarter the score was 3-7. The second came when receiver Doug Baldwin’s drop plopped into the hands of cornerback Damarious Randall for his second of the day.
Wilson has eight interceptions in his past three games.
As for the offense, cheesy petes was this an un-Seahawky game. He ran for the 1-yard touchdown in the second quarter that made it 14-3.
Rodgers’ big game was not because Terrell was in there. Green Bay’s offensive line did a great job of ensuring that its star quarterback had enough time to survey the defense and complete throws. And the one that tied Arizona 6-6 through four quarters plus an entire overtime period. That gave Aaron Rodgers far more time than a two-time league MVP should ever get.
You get an interception!
In those other five games, Seattle’s offense has been terrible. But not a lot of people expected this terrible performance.
It was the Packers’ longest play from scrimmage this season as well as the longest catch of Adams’ career.
Those two interceptions-those two balls bouncing the right way (finally)-powered Green Bay’s 38-10 victory in the NFC’s most anticipated game on Sunday. His passer rating of 150.8 was the highest against the Seahawks since Carroll, a former defensive back and secondary coach, took over the franchise. The Packers are 7-6, winners of three straight, and play at rival Chicago on Sunday. Next week, the Packers will be in Chicago to face the Bears. Due to the intense rivalry, the Bears would love to beat the Packers and spoil their playoff chances.
The Seahawks host the L.A. Rams Thursday night. The Seahawks can not afford to have another performance like this.
