Apple removes time remaining battery estimate for MacBook Pro
9to5Mac sources say the flawed estimates may be attributable to the low-power processors sitting within the MacBook Pro, as well as new iCloud syncing features present in Sierra.
The change – although not insignificant, especially given the complaints about MacBook battery life – is not mentioned in the official release notes for Sierra 10.12.2.
This after a number of MacBook Pro owners complained that their device failed to deliver on the supposed 10-hour battery life.
There are also useful software add-ons like iStat Menu 5 and Battery Health 2 which provide comprehensive data visualisations about your MacBook’s performance. Users will no longer be given a real-time estimate. The incorrect “time remaining” expectations were not able stay aware of or give exact data to clients on the most up to date machines.
Complaining about bad battery life while running macOS Sierra 10.12.1, looks like the opinions of several MacBook Pro users have taken a turn with the latest update, as several of them must be pleased with the estimated battery life timer being displayed on their notebooks.
The discrepancies in the estimated battery life and the actual battery life might be a direct effect of the new Intel CPUs that are dynamic in nature and cater to the needs from the CPU mostly on an on-demand basis. The new process will help users understand that their desktop files haven’t been deleted, only moved to a new folder. Impacted devices are left with flickering displays that exhibit artifacting, tearing and checkerboard patterns due to a driver issue that’s now resolved.
As a result it is has ditched the “time remaining” estimate in the latest version of macOS Sierra – 10.12.2 – which has just been released.
While many thought this could be a hardware flaw indicating there may be a problem with the laptop’s battery, Apple has cleared that there is no such issue.
Earlier this month, many users started experiencing flickering and screen tearing on their new MacBook Pro laptops. Also, the Surface bundle was sold out in Best Buy during its first day, and the Surface Pen became the best seller in Germany’s PC Accessories on Amazon.com for over 12 hours.
